Update: Term 2

It's been a busy start to the term! The aim of phase one of the project is to gain a picture of the landscape of the support provided to deaf and hard of hearing students in higher education. My ethics application has been submitted and we have approval for the questionnaires to go ahead.

 

I'm now working on constructing the online questionnaires: a questionnaire for deaf and hard of hearing students studying in HE and a questionnaire for Communication Support Workers and British Sign Language / English interpreters. The questionnaire for students will include a BSL translation and students can contact me directly if they would prefer to complete the questionnaire in BSL. I'm really grateful for the input I've had from professionals working in the field and students. Although my research is centred on the interpreting support provided to deaf and hard of hearing students studying at university, an area I've worked in for nearly twenty years, there's still much to learn, particularly regarding specialist notetakers. 

 

The questionnaires should be ready by the end of March so please do look out for more information.
